We can now image your retina, macula and optic nerve with unprecedented high resolution, wide field clarity, and true colour.

Eye Conditions We Test For

  • Macular Degeneration

Macular Degeneration is the most frequent cause of legal blindness in Australia. The term covers a range of diseases and disorders, all of which affect the macula (the part of the eye you depend on for central vision), making it less effective and affecting the centre of your field of vision. Hence, an eye examination early is very important.

Usually, this is a gradual process, but rapid reductions in vision are also possible. People struggling with macular degeneration face several challenges, including difficulty reading or recognising faces, blurred vision, or perceiving colours as less being less vibrant than they are. Macular degeneration usually affects people over 65, with as many as a tenth of people aged 65 and over being affected by it to some degree. Those with a family history of eye problems are also three times more likely to have vision problems themselves.

Early detection is absolutely vital to your ongoing eye care, and the well-being of your eyes. Contact us today to see how we can help.

  • Glaucoma

Glaucoma is the name given to a group of eye diseases in which the optic nerve at the back of the eye is slowly destroyed.

In most people, this damage is due to increased pressure inside the eye - a result of blockage of the circulation of aqueous or its drainage.

In other patients, the damage may be caused by a poor blood supply to the vital optic nerve fibres, a weakness in the structure of the nerve, and/or a problem in the health of the nerve fibres themselves.

Over 300,000 Australians have glaucoma. While it is more common as people age, it can occur at any age. As our population becomes older, the proportion of glaucoma patients is increasing and are seeing optometrists.

  • Headaches

Headaches are one of the most common aches and pains in the modern world, affecting everyone from school children to the elderly daily. A lot of people don't realise, however, that many of these headaches are the direct result of visual difficulties.

We use our eyes constantly and, in the modern world, spend a huge amount of time staring at a computer, phone, and television screens. Whether you're working on a spreadsheet, playing video games, or even just watching TV, the strain on your eyes can build up.

People who work long hours in front of computers and school children who perform a wide range of visually demanding tasks during a day's study are particularly likely to suffer from eye strain headaches.

The symptoms of an eye strain headache can include pressure above and next to the eyes, especially around the eyebrow areas. These headaches can come on quickly and usually last the rest of the day, or until pain relief is administered, so it is crucial to come in for an eye examination as soon as possible.
