Our Optometrist – Simon Della Vedova
Simon is the optometrist at Bay Optical. He grew up in Sydney and earned his Bachelor of Optometry degree with honours from the University of NSW in 1999.
After gaining experience working in Sydney and the ACT, Simon co-founded Bay Optical with Bill Ashton in 2003.
In 2015, Simon completed further study in Ocular Therapeutics at the Australian College of Optometry. This qualification allows him to prescribe ophthalmic medicines and provides advanced skills in diagnosing and managing a variety of eye diseases and conditions.
Simon is a proud member of the Optometrists Association Australia (OAA) and keeps up to date with the latest eyecare research by regularly attending conferences and seminars. His ongoing continuing professional education (CPE) exceeds the requirements set by both the Association and the Optometry Board of Australia (OBA).
Away from work, Simon enjoys mountain biking and bushwalking with his family, and he continues to play competitive soccer to keep active and connected to his sporting roots.
Meet the Dispensing Team
Bill Ashton
Bill has many years of experience across all facets of the optical industry. He is a wealth of knowledge when recommending lenses and has a good eye for fashion. His technical skills on the mechanical side of optics mean that most of our jobs are fitted in-store.
Outside of work, Bill enjoys holidaying with his wife and is a keen runner.
Ally Jones
Ally is a qualified Optical Dispenser with over 30 years of experience in the optical industry. She is the frame buyer for the practice and takes great pleasure in matching the perfect frame to each customer’s needs. With a strong technical background, Ally is highly skilled in recommending the most suitable lenses for all visual requirements.
In her free time, Ally enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending quality time with her family.
Hope Greenaway
Hope is a friendly and dedicated member of our team at Bay Optical. She is currently undertaking her Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing, developing strong skills in lens selection, frame styling, and personalised patient care.
Hope brings warmth, attention to detail, and a passion for fashion. In her spare time, she enjoys weaving, spending time with family, and enjoying a negroni.
